Winemaking notes
Sourced from native varieties grown at higher altitudes in the Douro Superior sub-region, all from Casa Ferreirinha's own estates. After destemming, grapes are gently pressed and the must is clarified before undergoing a long alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures. Aged approximately 5 months in stainless steel tanks with rigorous lot monitoring. The final blend is made according to strict selection criteria, then clarified and stabilised prior to bottling. Winemaker: Luís Sottomayor.
Viticultural notes
A blend of five indigenous Douro varieties: Rabigato (38%), Viosinho (33%), Gouveio (11%), Códega do Larinho (10%) and Arinto (8%). High-altitude vineyards in the Douro Superior sub-region allow for slow ripening and natural acidity retention. An elegant and vibrant white, classic yet modern as rare and distinctive as the Papa Figos, one of the Douro's rarest birds. DOC Douro.
Tasting notes
Bright citrine-yellow with golden tints. The nose is lively and complex: white and tropical fruit predominate, accompanied by hints of citrus, delicate flowers and a refreshing touch of minerality. The palate has good volume and vibrancy, with refreshing acidity and further notes of white fruits, including pear. The finish is long and elegantly persistent.
Pairing notes
Serve directly from the bottle between 9–11 °C. No decanting required. An ideal aperitif, also pairing beautifully with fish, seafood and white meat. Best consumed within 24 hours of opening to preserve full aromatic freshness.
