Winemaking notes
Sourced from the Douro Superior sub-region, primarily from Quinta da Leda and partner growers whose vineyards face north and sit at higher altitude. After destemming and gentle crushing, grapes are sent to stainless steel vats for alcoholic fermentation with gentle macerations at controlled temperature. Between fermentation and final blending, wines undergo extensive tasting and analysis. Aged in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Only light fining and filtration applied before bottling.
Viticultural notes
A blend of Tinta Roriz (33%), Tinta Barroca (30%), Touriga Francesa (23%) and Touriga Nacional (14%) from higher-altitude vineyards in the Douro Superior sub-region. Papa Figos is an elegant and vibrant wine, classic yet modern, inspired by the rare and distinctive character of the Papa Figos bird one of the rarest in the Douro and true to Casa Ferreirinha's long tradition of producing world-class Douro wines. DOC Douro.
Tasting notes
Luminous ruby red with brilliant highlights. The nose is richly aromatic: fresh red fruits, balsamic hints of resin and cedar, with a subtle spicy touch of black pepper. The palate shows good volume, quality tannins and balanced acidity. Red fruits and pepper carry elegantly through to a very well-balanced and harmonious finish. Winemaker: Luís Sottomayor.
Pairing notes
Serve directly from the bottle between 14–16 °C. No decanting required. Outstanding with red meat dishes, and refined enough to accompany white meats or oven-roasted fish. Consume within 24 hours of opening.
