40 Year Old 2022 Edition Batch 2

A welcome return for Benromach 40-year-old, this Batch 2 was bottled in 2022 after after the first batch received a Double Gold medal and the title of Best In Show at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This whisky was assembled from sherry-matured 40-year-old stock and has been bottled at a potent 56.5%, ensuring a superb intensity of delicious sherried Speyside flavours.

Benromach is a traditional Speyside distillery owned by a family intent on producing single malt using time honoured methods. Its small team of distillers rely entirely on their expertise and senses to make the finest handmade whisky. A small number of casks maturing in its dunnage warehouses were selected for this first annual batch release, with a further release planned each year.

Ripe red apple aromas infuse with fragrant clove and ginger spice. Dried fruit notes develop alongside tangerine peel and subtle beeswax polish. Palate: Orange oil gives way to a stewed raisin with spicy black pepper. Raspberry compote and walnut flavours lead to soft dried tobacco and charred oak.
