Winemaking notes
8-day maceration with daily pump-overs in stainless steel vats at 30 °C. Half the wine completes malolactic fermentation in new 225-litre French and American oak casks; the other half in concrete tanks. Aged 20 months in barrel (65% American oak, 35% French Allier), followed by 18 months of bottle ageing before release.
Viticultural notes
A classic DOCa Rioja blend: 85% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo and Graciano. Grapes are harvested late September at optimal phenolic and alcoholic ripeness. The diversity of Rioja's terroirs and careful parcel selection have defined the Cerro Añón identity since Bodegas Olarra was founded in 1973.
Tasting notes
Bright crimson red. The nose reveals sweet ripe fruit with delicate smoky undertones. On the palate, cherry, plum and blackberry intertwine with clean, refined oak notes. Elegant mouthfeel, full body and a fresh, fruity finish.
Pairing notes
erve between 16–18 °C. Decant 30 minutes to open up the aromatic complexity. Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled meats, game or aged pressed cheeses.
