Winemaking notes
With every step of the winemaking process our goal is to preserve the incredible aromatics and scintillating structure of our wines. After harvesting, we keep the fruit as cool as possible to retain bright, fresh Marlborough fruit flavours. Gentle crushing helps to preserve the personality of the variety and the influence of the site. We use traditional punch downs during fermentation to extract optimum colour and soft tannins. Our Pinot Noir is aged in French oak barriques to add complexity. 9 months in French oak (15% new barrels)
Viticultural notes
The winding Dashwood Pass connects Marlborough’s two marquee winegrowing regions, the Awatere and Wairau Valleys. Since 1989, Dashwood wines have been crafted by blending fruit sourced from these neighbouring yet distinct coastal terroirs. Our wines are true reflections of the Marlborough region: as cool as the winds in our valleys, and as imposing as the mountains that frame our vineyards. The Floral symbol on our wine labels is the pohutukawa, a maori word meaning drenched with mist. it is an evergreen tree known as the unoffIcial new zealand christmas tree due to its bright red blooms that emerge every december.
Tasting notes
Our Pinot Noir opens with juicy red-fleshed Black Doris plum accented by notes of wild berries. Spice characters follow through on the palate with warm, soft tannins and a velvety texture.
