Winemaking notes
The harvest in Burgundy started around August 20, which was historically early for the region. At Chanson, they started on August 24 under a bright sunshine. 2020 red wines are generous, concentrated and beautifully terroir-driven.
Viticultural notes
Soil : Clay and limestone. Site : A Chanson "monopole" in the very heart of the first Growths vineyards of Beaune. The vineyard covering 3.80 ha is located on a mid slope. The "Clos des Fèves" was already known in the 14th century under the latin word "Fae".
Tasting notes
Bright ruby colour. Delicate fragrances of peony, roses mixed with aromas of raspberries, black-berries and cherries. Notes of black chocolate, roasted coffee, liquorice mixed with cedar. Well-balanced and concentrated. Ample with a powerful tannic structure. Long and refreshing finish full of elegance. Long aging potential. Scores : 17/20 Jancis Robinson - 91 Vinous
Pairing notes
Game (pheasant), poultry, red meat roasted or "en sauce" and all the regional cheeses (Epoisses, Citeaux).
