Winemaking notes
Wines of Substance was conceived by winemaker Charles Smith with a single-minded vision: to produce the best value-priced varietal wines in America. Substance is made with traditional winemaking techniques: natural fermentations, barrel-aging and bottled unfiltered and unfined. In essence, Charles makes Substance wines with small batch winemaking integrity on an unprecedented scale.

Tasting notes
Classic from the get-go. Black cassis, pipe tobacco, and black cherry saturates the mouth. Followed by forest floor, dark plum, and pencil lead. Great density and a tremendous finesse-filled finish which one has to repeat...A CLASSIC!
