Winemaking notes
The veraison is slow and heterogeneous especially on the Cabernets, Francs and Sauvignons. The water stress caused by the summer heat allowed a good ripening of the vine. The parcel heterogeneity was leveled by a finishing harvest in September. They start on October 9 for the Merlots and on October 13 for the Cabernets. A vinification in temperature-controlled vats, combined with a partial aging in oak barrels.
Viticultural notes
The region of Saint-Émilion benefits from a temperate oceanic climate favorable to a slow and complete ripening of the grape varieties. The alternation of clay, limestone and sandy soils gives each wine a particular identity.
Tasting notes
Château de Ferrand 2012 reveals a tiled color with slight orange reflections. The nose is intense and spicy with notes of leather, truffle and tobacco leaves, signs of a beautiful evolution. On the palate the tannins are fine and silky, the finish slightly woody. This beautiful vintage combines balance and freshness.
