Winemaking notes
The 2020 harvest benefited from a winter with high precipitation, allowing for a balanced and homogeneous vegetative cycle with no frost risk. Thanks to the altitude, the maturation of the loose, small clusters was delayed until late September, enhancing skin ripeness while preserving freshness. Manual harvesting in boxes followed rigorous selection in each plot. Alma Alacer Tinto is crafted from high-altitude parcels "Hoyos" and "Hontanilla," situated above 900 meters. The wine undergoes careful selection, fermentation, and a unique extraction process, aging for 16 months in new French oak barrels to maximize fruit expression.
Viticultural notes
The wine is sourced from high-altitude vineyards "Hoyos" and "Hontanilla," located over 900 meters above sea level. These parcels, with their clay-limestone soil and high planting density, naturally regulate cluster size and yield. The challenging climate—long winters, high temperatures, and low rainfall—promotes slow maturation and preserves optimal acidity, which helps combat climate change effects and maintains grape freshness.
Tasting notes
Alma Alacer Tinto features a vibrant, elegant, and fresh character. Its intense cherry red color reveals a nose full of red fruit with subtle spicy hints like vanilla, toffee, and clove. On the palate, it is well-balanced with a rich body, thanks to the mature, velvety tannins. The wine reflects the clay-limestone soil and the meticulous winemaking process, offering a unique, intense aromatic profile.
Pairing notes
To fully appreciate Alma Alacer Tinto, decanting the wine before serving is recommended to open up its aromas and flavors. Serve it at around 16-18°C to highlight its vibrant, elegant characteristics. This wine pairs well with rich dishes and can be enjoyed after a few years of cellaring to enhance its complexity and depth.
