Winemaking notes
Baron Otard VSOP Cognac is composed exclusively of the two leading cognac regions, Grande and Petite Champagne, with at least 50% from Grande Champagne. Ugni Blanc is the most widely-planted grape variety, accounting for 98% of vines in all of Cognac. VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) is legally defined has having a minimum of at least four years of ageing and all Cognacs are required to be distilled twice, using copper pot stills.
Viticultural notes
The cellars of Château de Cognac have 3-metre thick walls and an extremely high level of humidity resulting from the proximity of the Charente river. This environment plays a determinant role in the maturity of the different brandies offered by the company.
Tasting notes
It has rich floral, tobacco, and vanilla notes. The palate is round with subtle fruity character enhanced by hints of spice.
Pairing notes
Cognac is a very versatile drink. It may be enjoyed neat, over ice or diluted with a little water. It can be mixed with quality mixers as well. Try it with some dark chocolate or medium strength cheese.
