Winemaking notes
The wine is made from quality, low-yield grapes from small plots of old vines located on hillsides (parce/as) on limestone soils. Around a quarter of the wine is aged for 6 months in new French oak barrels, giving it complexity and texture.
Viticultural notes
Bideona is located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Founded in 2018. 300 vineyard plots on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, mainly in the villages of Villabuena de Âlava, Leza, Samaniego, Laguardia, Navaridas and Banos del Ebro. Average age 50 years. Made from hilltop vineyards (cabezadas) on limestone soils, with a small amount of wine aged in used oak to give it texture.
Tasting notes
It has pure, intense primary aromas of black cherry and dark berry with a hint of violet and clove. Medium-bodied, it displays remarkable complexity and concentration. The fruit quality shines through, displaying the character typical of the cooler Rioja Alavesa climate, without being masked by excessive oak aging.
Pairing notes
Accompanies grilled meats, hard cheeses, pasta and rice dishes.
