Winemaking notes
Rüdger is a phenomenal wine maker and his day job is making the incredibly highly regarded Stark Conde wines. A harvest in Burgundy led him to fall in love with Pinot Noir. Fittingly in a wine that he tributes in name to his own personal story, it is Pinot Noir an expression of his passion.
Viticultural notes
Grapes are sourced from carefully-selected premium vineyards in the Elgin region. An elegant, lightly-wooded style of Pinot Noir showing classic strawberry and red cherry notes coupled with a hint of spice. A firm, yet silky-smooth tannin-structure supports the lovely bright fruit characteristics of the wine.
Tasting notes
The Pinot Noir Kara-Tara has a fresh, pure bouquet of wild strawberry and red cherry scents that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Quite compact and concentrated for a Pinot, but it retains delineation on the chalky-textured finish. This is a very commendable, quite delicious Pinot Noir.
Pairing notes
If you were somewhat exotic and had a duck breast in front of you this wine would be the perfect companion. If You like most people do not normally dine on duck in the middle of the week, it would not make a pork chop look bad.
