Winemaking notes
First selection carried out directly in the vineyard, choosing small-berry clusters with a higher skin-to-pulp ratio to achieve maximum concentration of colour and aromatics. Destemming without crushing to preserve the fruit's integrity. Aged for a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels, developing complexity and elegance over time.
Viticultural notes
Predominantly Tempranillo sourced from Rioja Alta vineyards, selected for their altitude, age and ability to deliver body, structure and a fresh, fruity character. A tribute to Gabriel Larrendant, a Burgundy-born winemaker and creator of the Monte Real brand in 1933 — a legendary figure at Bodegas Riojanas, founded in Cenicero in 1890.
Tasting notes
Deep cherry red of very high intensity. The nose is generous and expressive: abundant wild red fruits — raspberries and redcurrants — with toasted and smoky nuances. The palate is savoury, tactile and aromatic. Fruity flavours are accompanied by floral hints of violet and spiced notes of black pepper. Ripe, beautifully crafted tannins extend the finish, punctuated by lingering spice and red fruit.
Pairing notes
Serve between 16–18 °C. Decant for 20 minutes before serving. Pairs beautifully with roast red meats, slow-roasted lamb, stews, game and aged hard cheeses. Ageing potential of .
