Winemaking notes
A gem in the heart of Stags Leap District, Silverado Vineyard was one of the first four wineries in the Stags Leap District to plant Cabernet in the 1960s. 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc. Average 19 days maceration. Aged 17 months in oak, 42% new.
Viticultural notes
Silverado Vineyard is home to the namesake winery. It was on this site that Harry See planted Cabernet Sauvignon in 1968 that UC Davis later designated the Disney-Silverado Heritage Clone. The sloping, gravelly soils and sunny exposure of Silverado Vineyard pairs perfectly with western exposures to the late afternoon sun and Mt. George Vineyard’s cooler climate and deep volcanic soils provide depth and structure to these wines.
Tasting notes
Intense aromas of dark cherry and stone fruits. Full-bodied with great structure and balance. Perfectly ripe cherry and plum flavors and hints of apricot and toasted oak lead to a long finish.
