Winemaking notes
The Perrachon family settled in Juliénas in 1601 and have been making wine at La Bottière estate since 1877. Today the
winery is run by 6th & 7th generation Perrachons, Martine & Laurent, and their sons Maxime & Adrien. They continue
the work of their ancestors, with 34 hectares of vines in 7 Beaujolais appellations. Farming philosophy: Sustainable farming with organic processes.
Viticultural notes
100% Gamay, 5.15ha, 50 year vines in high manganese granitic soils across a mosaic of sites between 220-260m. Manual plowing between vines, with severe debudding and green harvest. Handpicked and destemmed 40%. 12 months aging in 40 year old large oak casks (foudres) & concrete tanks. SO2 Total : <70ppm
Tasting notes
Black raspberry rubs up against freshly-picked red cherry that flirts with cranberry skin and dried field grass. The palate is defined by a red-fruit-led freshness that washes over wet stone and gives whispers of Darjeeling tea on the finish.
Pairing notes
93 Points Wine Enthusiast 2024 Vintage - "Moulin-à-Vent is a top Beaujolais Cru, and this bottling grown on pink granite shows you exactly why. Fragrant aromas of spiced raspberry, red currant, black olive and fig open on the nose along with hints of brioche. The palate is concentrated with grippy tannins that wrap around briary fruit. Pair with grilled meats and steak tartare."
