Winemaking notes
The grapes are fermented with skin maceration allowing the extraction of the best components. The addition of wine alcohol balances the body and bouquet of the wine. The wines selected for the final blend are aged in oak barrels for several years, with several analyzes to age the wines well. The wines for the final blend are generally between 9 and 12 years old, typical quality of Offley Porto Tawny 10YO.
Viticultural notes
The demarcated Douro region is divided into three large sub-regions: Baixo Corgo (west), Cima Corgo (center) and Douro Superior (east). The 10-year-old Offley Port comes from Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. Tawnies, named after the tawny color in English, are a blend of wines aged in oak tuns. The aging process allows the wood to give a dark ruby color to the wine over time.
Tasting notes
Pale red, it presents elegant and complex aromas of raisins, vanilla and quince jam. The palate is balanced and elegant with a very long finish.
Pairing notes
Duck with peaches, dried fruits, veal fillet with orange and Port sauce, chilled melon, poached pear stuffed with blue cheese and salted walnuts.
