Winemaking notes
The wine is a blend of 77% Zinfandel, 13% Barbera, 10% Petite Sirah; percentages slightly differ from each vintage. Wine was pressed on the skins after 7-12 days. Varietals were fermented separately in upright stainless steel fermenters and pumped over twice daily. Aged for 10 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels is used to frame the fruit and add structure, without overpowering the bright fruit aromas and flavors.
Viticultural notes
Sourced from Wente's favorite Estate Zinfandel vineyards: Double Black, Blind Faith, Whale Rock, Jack Knife, Hog Canyon which are located in the AVA of Paso Robles. With a greater day-to-night temperature swing than any other appellations in California, distinct meso-climates, diverse soils and a long growing season, Paso Robles is a unique wine region blessed with optimal growing conditions for producing premium and ultra-premium wines.
Tasting notes
The appearance is a bright red and ruby colour. On the nose there is raspberry, strawberry jam, herbs and coconut. On the palate a ripe plum, medium-full bodied, soft tannins and a medium-long finish.
Pairing notes
Pairs well with roast beef, braised short ribs and other cuts for braising and barbecuing such as brisket, skirt steak or flank steak.
