Winemaking notes
Grapes were hand-harvested at between 22° and 23°C balling, crushed, and then left for two days to cold soak. Fermentation took place over 5 days in a stainless-steel vat with regular pump-over. The wine was separated from the skin before fermentation was 100% completed and put back into tank for malolactic fermentation to be completed. It was then transferred to old barrels for further aging. Finally, the wine was fined and filtered prior to bottling.
Viticultural notes
Sourced from bush vine vineyards in the Agter-Paarl region. Cinsault thrives in the Malmesbury Shale soils typical of our region: unirrigated bush vines naturally reduce which results in wines with good concentration and colour.
Tasting notes
This Cinsault is a light to medium-bodied red wine with fresh and vibrant red fruit aromas. Even though this is a serious display of Cinsault, the wine shows finesse and elegance with a gentle structure and a lush mouthfeel.
