Winemaking notes
A portion of the 100 % Pinot Gris was given extended skin contact to help infuse a salmon pink colour into the wine, thereby endorsing the signature style of The Ned Pinot Gris. The fruit was then gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Consistent temperature control ensured a slow, steady fermentation to preserve aromatics. Also, selected yeast strains were chosen to enhance varietal intensity and mouthfeel.
Viticultural notes
Within Marlborough, the two major vineyards are deeper inland – in the more challenging and rewarding Waihopai Valley. Here, the typical fruit intensity of Marlborough wine is even more pronounced. While we’re restricting our range of varieties to those proven to deliver outstanding fruit in our region, we sought out vineyards that give us a great diversity of flavours.
Tasting notes
A salmon pink colour, delightful aromatics featuring bright floral, ripe aromas of white peach with hints of honeydew and baking spice. The harmonious palate is fresh and full of lingering flavours.
Pairing notes
Easily appreciated on its own as it can when paired with food. Try it with Seared Scallops in a Pinot Gris Butter Sauce.
