Winemaking notes
Vinification takes place in small, temperature-controlled cement tanks, with a 28-day maceration on the skins. The aging continues in 30hl barrels for about 10 months, providing the wine with complexity and velvety tannins.
Viticultural notes
The Montepulciano grapes are grown in the vineyards of Controguerra, at an altitude of 260 meters. The soil is medium-textured with abundant gravel. The vines are cordon-trained and spur-pruned, with a planting density of 5000 plants per hectare and a yield of 60 quintals per hectare. The grapes are handpicked in mid-October.
Tasting notes
The wine displays an intense and impenetrable ruby red color. The nose reveals complex aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, and currant, intertwined with spicy notes of tobacco and leather. On the palate, it is full-bodied with smooth tannins and a lingering finish.
Pairing notes
Serve this Montepulciano at 16-18°C, ideal for pairing with grilled meats, roasts, or saucy dishes. Its intense and spicy character also makes it a great match for aged cheeses and game dishes.
