Winemaking notes
Grapes are harvested by hand in whole bunches and several passes in the vineyards take place depending in the ripeness of the fruit. Part of the harvest underwent a cold skin maceration to concentrate the aromas. Fermentation took place under strictly controlled temperatures (12° to 14°C). With 125 gr/lt of residual sugar remaining, the fermentation process was voluntarily stopped.
Viticultural notes
Vin Doux Naturel Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise was officially awarded AOC status in 1945. The vineyards of ‘Les Murets’ are spread around the Village of Beaumes de Venise, on the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The vines are planted on narrow terraces, known as «restanques» or «faysses», and supported by stone walls. The climate has a Mediterranean influence: hot and dry with the Mistral wind tempered by the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains. Made from Muscat blanc à petits grains. The grapes must have a sugar content of over 252g/L and an average yield under 30hl/hectare.
Tasting notes
Light golden colour. Aromas of white flowers and tropical fruits. Luscious, round, savoury and flavourful with a long, refreshing finish.
Pairing notes
Serve this lively, fruity wine at 7°C. Delicious as an aperitif, enjoy with melon, foie gras and fruitbased desserts, oriental pastries or dark chocolate. Is also an excellent partner to fruit recipes like pineapple Carpaccio or lemon-meringue pie.
