Winemaking notes
After light crushing and destemming, alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats and long maceration. Aged for 12 to 18 months in used French oak barrels. In order to preserve the quality of Vinha Grande, the wine is only subjected to a very light filtration before bottling and does not undergo cold stabilization. It is therefore possible that over time a slight natural deposit develops in the bottle.
Viticultural notes
The grapes come from Ferreira's own estates in the Alto Corgo region, near Pinhão (Quinta do Seixo, Quinta do Porto and Quinta do Cadeo mainly) and in the Douro Superior, near Barca d'Alva including Quinta da Leda.
Tasting notes
Beautiful intensity and complexity of aromas dominated by red and black fruits. There are also notes of black pepper, nutmeg and well-integrated wood. On the palate, the wine is structured and reveals a lively and balanced acidity, the tannins are round and of excellent quality and the notes of black fruits bring a long and harmonious finish.
