Winemaking notes
The summer is full of hot and humid episodes and the end of August is marked by the arrival of cool and autumnal temperatures. The sun takes over in mid-September at the start of the harvest, which will take place under a beautiful sun. The red wines are coloured with beautiful floral fragrances and a beautiful expression of the fruit, but the volumes are largely amputated by the impact of the frost.
Viticultural notes
Monthelie is a small village to the west of the hill which is also home to the village of Volnay. Clos Gauthey is located in the heart of the appellation. Soil: Clay-limestone.
Tasting notes
Intense aromas of red berries (raspberry, strawberry, cherry) with notes of spices and vanilla. Well-balanced and well-structured. Delicate, well-woven texture. Well-constructed tannins on a subtle woodiness. Nice length on sweet spices.
Pairing notes
Food pairings: Mild cheeses, roasted meats, poultry in sauce.
