Winemaking notes
After a mild and rainy start to the year and an episode of frost in mid-April, the vintage found its stride with a hot and dry month of May, ideal conditions for flowering. The end of spring took place under optimal conditions. The summer was marked by a violent episode of hail at the end of July and relatively cool temperatures in August accompanied by some rain. At the beginning of September, the Indian summer took over and allowed the grapes to reach an optimal level of maturity. The harvest took place at the end of September under a beautiful sun. The red wines reveal great aromatic purity with marked notes of red fruit and a generous structure. Aged in oak barrels for 15 months.
Viticultural notes
Chanson owns 3 ha of this climat located in the heart of the Premiers Crus of Santenay, a small village in the south of the Côte de Beaune. The plot is located on the top of the hill and is spread over two levels. The soil with a high proportion of pebbles gives the wine a beautiful minerality that highlights the typicality of Pinot Noir. Soil: Clay-limestone, very stony.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby color. Aromas of intense black fruit (black cherry) over fragrances of violet and sandalwood, mixed with earthy notes. Complex on a beautiful energy. Powerful texture. Deep and elegant with well-integrated tannins. Good persistence.
Pairing notes
Soft cheeses, roast meats, poultry in sauce.
